It typically grows as a large shrub or small tree. It is the only species of Snakebark Maple that is native to North America. Has interesting greenish bark on young branches and trunks that is vertically marked with white stripes. Stripes may vanish over time as older bark turns red/brown. Garden Uses: Striped bark and fall colour are attractive. Best suited for woodland gardens or shaded naturalized sites.
